Set within the curtilage of Plas Tirion, a Grade II* Tudor manor house, Y Bragdy enjoys privacy on the edge of an ancient apple orchard. It was built in 1498 as an early cruck-framed timber house and later used to brew ale when the big house was built in 1565. Saved from dereliction and lovingly restored over five years, the cottage is a rare survival, full of history and atmosphere.  A true celebration of craftsmanship, the cottage has been repaired using original techniques and beautifully crafted materials, with hand-cut slates, and timber milled on-site from windblown trees. The comfortable, peaceful interior is filled with beautiful Welsh country antiques, handmade crafts, and local mill-woven textiles. It is kept warm and cosy with underfloor heating throughout, and a wood-burning stove in the living room, fuelled by logs from the owners' nearby woodland. The bedrooms and kitchen look over the orchard, which is filled with blossom and wildflowers in spring and summer.  There are twenty acres of fields to walk in, with views down the Conwy Valley, and footpaths that lead to miles of woodland tracks.

Bethan B,

Y Bragdy is a beautifully renovated cottage. Nice and quiet, with a well stocked kitchen and a bathroom with an enjoyable rain shower. We loved being there. It’s the perfect spot from where to discover the North of Wales. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Y Bragdy to my friends 100%

Under the Thatch are a wonderful company to book with, so helpful with clear instructions, got back to me straight away with any queries I had. The cottage I booked Y Bragdy was beautiful. Exactly as described. Quiet, clean, stocked with everything you could possibly need for self catering, warm, comfortable and the owners, who are so friendly are just up the drive. The nearby town of Betwys Y Coed is so picturesque with good places to eat. Would definitely go there again.

A lovely three nights at Y Bragdy. The cottage was comfortable, clean and very welcoming. Even though the weather was unkind we really enjoyed our time there and it made a useful stopping off point on our way home from Pembrokeshire. Once again, many thanks to Ned and Sophie for creating such a calm and peaceful space. Heartfelt good wishes to them both.
