Everyone agrees—Bwthyn Trehilyn is simply one of the finest holiday cottages in all of Wales, and you'd have to look very, very hard to find a better cottage for your holiday in Pembrokeshire. This cottage is consistently in (or at the top of) our "Top 3" most booked cottage lists.
Located under 10 minutes from Abermawr beach, the cottage is also walkable from the dolphin lookout and lighthouse on Strumble Head. Meticulously renovated by the BBC's Griff Rhys Jones from a ruin using authentic restoration materials and skills, this is a traditional, detached Pembrokeshire farmhouse in a peaceful location at the end of a track, with seventy acres of farmland that enjoy fine sea views.
Guests can walk to the famous lighthouse on Ynys Meicl or hike out to Porthsychan cove. The restoration of this cottage was the subject of the BBC TV series “Return to a Pembrokeshire Farm.” Kids will enjoy the slide and swing set or trying to spot dolphins and whales from the lookout over the hill.
Sustainability was behind every decision in this restoration, and there are two EV chargers available for electric vehicle drivers. Additionally, fly fishing for rainbow trout is available in two ponds on-site. This is catch and release; please arrange this with the estate manager after booking.

The cottage has underfloor & central heating throughout & a woodburner.
Ground Floor: Open-plan living/dining area with wood-burner. Kitchen with doors out to patio dining, featuring a stove, dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave, and retro fridge-freezer. Double bedroom with door out to the rear garden. Shower room with a large shower.
First Floor: Double bedroom with country views. Twin bedroom with country views. Family bathroom with a bath.
Outside: Enclosed rear garden with patio and dining furniture. Enclosed front garden with benches. Access over 70 acres of land and many local footpaths. Nature walk (enclosed from livestock) along the stream to the far end of the farm and a ruined cottage.
Facilities: Parking for up to 3 cars. Small "honesty" shop for essentials. Table tennis in the barn. Small shared playground area with a swing and slide for young children (enjoyed at own risk). Two Type 2 electric car chargers (shared with all Trehilyn properties).

Pretty warm cottage in a quiet remote location. Ideal for a relaxing break and close to beautiful coastal path for long walks and watching the wildlife. Cottage could do with a little updating on beds particularly and perhaps some food storage space especially if full with 6 people. Plenty of kitchen equipment! Many thanks for a lovely stay.
